Embroidered kilims are the work of a society of shepherds and farmers living in ancient Mesopotamia which extends between the Tigris and Euphrates, from Babylon to Nassyria. The beneficial rivers that bathe this land have given him some wealth. However, the desert has confined these lands in isolation and modern civilization has, even today, little penetrated.
