Iznik ceramics
Designated by the term Ottoman Turkish Cini this pottery was for the elite of the empire but also exported very quickly beyond its borders, particularly in Italy, enjoying trade links with the Venetian and Genoese merchants. Towards the end of Fifteenth century, it is a ceramic dinnerware producing great perfection to meet the needs of an aristocracy in demand for luxury items and ceremonial. If the city of Iznik was its main center of production, it was also produced in Kütahya. Sporadic production and related orders of the court must have existed also in Istanbul.
